Role: Risk & Compliance Executive focusing on AML/CFT Compliance

Contract duration: Permanent full-time (Hybrid working model)
The Role:
We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Risk & Compliance Executive with strong Know Your Client (KYC)/Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) analytical experience. This role is integral to William Fry's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of AML/CFT compliance. The successful candidate will focus on KYC gathering, verification and monitoring activities while working closely with the rest of the Firm's Legal Risk & Compliance team
The primary objective of this position is to support the further development and management of the dedicated AML/CFT function within the Firm. This will include client onboarding and ongoing risk management with the overall objective of ensuring that William Fry remains fully compliant with all relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience and expertise in KYC processes while demonstrating a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
Tasks:
- Ensure that the Firm's complies with its AML/CFT obligations.
- Review and assess the KYC and reputational risks associated with new and existing clients and matters.
- Analyse and establish the corporate structure of the relevant client and, where relevant, identify the ultimate beneficial owner.
- Undertake politically exposed persons/PEP, sanctions and adverse media searches, liaising with partners where necessary, with the aim of identifying and escalating higher-risk new and existing clients/matters.
- Perform and review client and matter risk assessments.
- Provide guidance on the required KYC documentation where information is not available from public or other reliable third-party sources.
- Assist the Firm's Risk Management Committee with implementing new risk prevention measures.
The Person:
- You have 3+ years KYC experience in a similar role, preferably within a law firm.
- You have a keen awareness and understanding of potential AML/CFT risks in the legal sector together with thorough knowledge of both the Irish Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010 (as amended) and of the Irish Companies Act 2014.
- Experience or knowledge of various corporate structures required.
- Candidates will need to be comfortable identifying higher-risk clients and be familiar with mitigating relevant risks.
- Experience of escalating potential conflicts will be an advantage.
- You are a skilful communicator and can work autonomously, demonstrating initiative and proactive problem-solving skills.
- You have experience in managing projects and improving processes, including planning, execution and monitoring to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- You have a strong work ethic, a flexible approach coupled with the willingness and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with systems such as WorldCheck, Intapp, Elite 3e and iManage would be an advantage but is not required.
