This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, ambitious and commercially-minded team player. Join our market-leading Technology group to work on novel, global client mandates and projects that are at the cutting edge of advanced technologies. We are looking for a lawyer specialising in our core practice areas of commercial & technology contracts, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, data, privacy and digital regulation.
The nature of this team's work means it advises on legal issues which are often 'first of a kind'. This role will suit a lawyer who is passionate about technology, enjoys hands-on experience and has demonstrable communication and drafting skills to breakdown key issues in a commercially focused, pragmatic way for our clients.
The team seeks a lawyer who is confident in applying their existing experience, who is ambitious and keen to take their knowledge and skills to another level.
The Role
The lawyer that we appoint will:
* Advise on technology-related matters in a market leading practice, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Draft and negotiate commercial contracts for international clients across a range of industries and sectors (experience in the following sectors will be beneficial to the candidate: Technology, Data, Financial Services, Life Sciences and Energy).
* Advise international clients in relation on a range of issues including some or all of the following areas:
o Artificial intelligence
o Cybersecurity (e.g. NIS2, DORA, Cyber Resilience Act)
o Data and privacy
o e-Commerce
o Online safety and platforms (e.g. Digital Services Act, Online Safety & Media Regulation Act)
o Intellectual property
o Corporate M&A transactions
o Commercial contracts
o Tech Transactions (e.g. Outsourcing, cloud services, Systems implementation)
* Develop and nurture client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor alongside collegiate team members.
* Stay abreast of market trends and legislative changes to provide proactive, commercially focused advice.
* Collaborate on, participate in and contribute to business development initiatives, including thought leadership, client pitches and networking events.
* Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
The Person
* You are a qualified solicitor, with at least 3-5 years' relevant experience.
* You are curious, and relish learning new things.
* You are passionate about technology and its power to enhance the world.
* You enjoy being part of a multi-disciplinary team that prides itself on collegiality, mentorship and creating a collaborative working environment.
* You have an excellent academic background.
* You possess excellent technical and drafting skills, coupled with a good eye for detail.
* You have a track record of excellence in client service.
* You have a high level of commercial awareness.
* You are a strong communicator.
* You are a self-starter, deadline driven and able to manage competing tasks.
* You have a strong work ethic, a flexible approach to work, with the willingness and resilience to work in a fast-paced environment.
