The Team
The purpose of the Business Development & Marketing (BD&M) team is to grow the William Fry business and enhance our brand within the Irish and international markets. The team is responsible for all aspects of the marketing mix and supports the partnership on business development and commercial opportunities.
Job Purpose
The Internal Communications & Sustainable Business Lead plays an important role in shaping how colleagues experience the William Fry brand from the inside and how that brand is reinforced through our sustainability credentials externally. The role has two strands: - leading Firm-wide internal communications across our main channels, helping to plan, produce and deliver internal communications that engage colleagues, support culture and reinforce strategy; and - leading delivery of the Firm’s Sustainable Business programme. The successful candidate will work with the CMO, our BD&M team and other Firm leadership as well as external agencies, partners and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Communications
Manage key Firm-wide internal communications across the Firm’s main channels, including the intranet, internal mail and app and internal digital boards.
Develop and run the internal communications calendar, covering both major campaigns and always-on permanent channels.
Plan, write and edit clear, engaging content across short-form announcements, campaign narratives, leadership messages and longer-form features, working with the internal design team where required.
Manage and maintain the Firm’s intranet homepage and BD&M page, keeping content current, accessible, accurate and engaging.
Work with the CMO and HR leader to ensure messaging is coordinated, consistent and on brand.
Track engagement with internal channels and use insights to refine approach, formats and tone.
Sustainable Business
Lead and coordinate the Firm’s Sustainable Business (SB) programme, driving delivery across environmental, social and governance priorities. Deliver the 2026 SB plan and build / deliver the 2027 plan.
Develop and implement Firm-wide initiatives and events across diversity, equity & inclusion, wellbeing, environment, community engagement and pro bono.
Act as central programme lead, supporting governance structures including the Sustainable Business Steering Group, senior sponsors and internal sustainable business committees
Manage key external partnerships with charities, accreditation bodies and industry organisations.
Oversee monitoring, data gathering and reporting against sustainability commitments, accreditations and pledges.
Drive colleague engagement with the SB agenda through campaigns, events and volunteering opportunities.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of four years’ experience in an internal communications role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a confident editorial instinct.
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering internal initiatives and campaigns that support business objectives and enhance employee engagement.
Experience managing content on intranet sites and using e-marketing tools such as Vuture.
Practical experience of sustainable business or ESG programmes, including demonstrated knowledge of environmental, social and governance principles and good practice.
Highly collaborative, with the confidence to work independently and partner effectively with senior stakeholders.
Proactive and enthusiastic, with strong relationship-building skills and a positive, professional approach.
Excellent project management skills.
Medium to advanced skills across the MS Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Additional desirable requirements
Strong awareness and understanding of brand.
Experience using AI to help optimise content creation.
Experience working in a professional services environment.
Creative design skills or interests.
